Volume-based treatment dosing
Dose against the gallons you measured, not the acres you guessed.
MyPond sizes treatment quantities against the pond you actually measured. Products are dosed one of two ways depending on how they work: per acre-foot of water for anything that has to reach a concentration throughout the water column, and per surface acre for anything that acts at the surface or on the bottom footprint. Because MyPond already holds the measured volume and surface area, the dose comes from your pond rather than from an estimate, and every application is recorded with its date, amount and conditions so the history is auditable.

What MyPond does
- Dose rate applied to the right basis
- A product dosed per acre-foot is multiplied by measured volume in acre-feet. A product dosed per surface acre is multiplied by surface acres. Using the wrong basis is the most common dosing error in pond management, and it is wrong by a factor of mean depth.

- Every treatment is stored against the pond with its date, amount, unit, weather conditions and notes, and can carry a next due date.

How it works
Why volume dosing and surface dosing are different
A product that has to reach a concentration in the water is dosed against volume, because concentration is mass over volume. A product that works at the surface or covers the bottom is dosed against area, because its job is coverage. Applying an acre-foot rate as though it were a surface-acre rate underdoses a deep pond badly and overdoses a shallow one, and in both cases the applicator concludes the product did not work.
Why a measured volume changes the result
The usual estimate is surface acres times an assumed average depth. On a steep-sided pond that underestimates volume, so the dose lands short. On a shallow flooded field it overestimates, so the dose lands heavy and costs more than it needed to. Measuring the volume removes that error from every application afterwards.
Read the label
MyPond computes a quantity from a stored dose rate. The product label is the legal instruction and governs rates, restrictions and handling. Where the label and a stored rate disagree, the label wins.
Common questions
Does MyPond dose by surface acres or by volume?
Both, depending on the product. Products that need a water column concentration are dosed per acre-foot; products that act on the surface or bottom footprint are dosed per surface acre.
Do I need bathymetry before I can dose a treatment?
For volume dosed products, yes, because the dose is a function of acre-feet. Surface dosed products only need the traced shoreline.
Does MyPond keep a record of past treatments?
Yes. Each application is stored with its date, amount, conditions and notes, and can carry a next due date.
